How do I submit artwork?

"I had all my college photos stored on my laptop where I thought they were safe...until someone stole the laptop. I'll never store photos on my computer again."

SUBMITING ARTWORK

To submit photos or artwork for archiving, restoration or custom slideshows, please follow these instructions.

SNAIL MAIL
Package your photos well using hard cardboard on all sides to provide a solid shell for your photos. We also recommend you use a plastic Ziploc bag to contain each set of photographs, and each video tape/reel to protect them from any moisture during the delivery process.

An additional layer of bubble wrap is also recommended for an extra layer of protection. We are not responsible for any damage incurred during the shipment to or from our location.

Send your photos or artwork for us to scan to DigiDark, PO Box 23485, Minneapolis, MN, 55423. If you have any questions about submitting artwork, you can e-mail an account specialist. Your photos and artwork will be returned exactly as they were submitted along with the your final DVD.

E-MAIL
Once your order has been placed, you will be assigned an order number and account specialist who will arrange receipt of your photos via e-mail.

SCANNING
If you are scanning the photos yourself, please make sure to scan them in at the proper resolution. The ideal resolution for photos in your DVD project is 150 dpi for photos 4"x6" or larger, 200 dpi for photos smaller than 4"x6". Higher resolutions only make the file size too large to work with. Lower resolutions cause a grainy appearance in your DVD. We prefer to have the files in .jpg format. When naming your photos, it is best to list them in the order you would like them to appear in the presentation (i.e. 01_Picture.jpg, 02_Picture.jpg, etc.).

One of the most important things you can do when you are scanning is to make sure that the equipment being used is free of dust and hairs. When we do the scanning for you, we constantly clean and check the equipment for any particles that may show up on your scanned images.

If we receive your scanned photos, and there is an excessive amount of dust on the images, you may be charged for additional photo touch ups during the production process if you want them cleaned up. We will do our best to work with poorly scanned images, but cannot guarantee the quality.

If you have any concerns or doubts about the scanning process, it may be best to have us do the scanning for you, thus ensuring the best quality possible for your project. Many customers, albeit with the best of intentions, have opted to do their own scanning only to find it to be a very time consuming and tedious process, delaying the completion of their DVD production. Sending your photos to us for scanning and archiving will not require any additional time to complete your DVD production.
